Steppin' Up in Style

I absolutely adore the photos I have seen recently of people decorating the backs of their stairs. Look at some of these amazing examples...

We have 2 sets of staircases leading to the second floor in our house. The first set of stairs begin in the entryway. The second (or back staircase as we call them) leads to our master suite and has no turns and no landing...just straight up!!! For a very, very long time (a.k.a. a few months), I have been wanting to do something special with these stairs. With a little inspiration from Pinterest, a quote about 'family' in vinyl decals, and scissors, I was able to create some fun, meaningful (and easily removable) interest on the back staircase. Being that we have a photo gallery of our family going up this wall next to the back stairs, I thought pairing them with this beautiful quote would be the perfect combo! I am pretty sure I know which staircase I will be taking for now on!

It took about an hour (and lots of patience...since I had the help of a 6 and an 8 year old) to complete decaling the stairs. I wanted the words to appear random and not centered on each step...just as it was in the package. Here is a before shot of our Plain Jane Stairs.

Progress...
I very scientifically (wink, wink) laid out the quote from Urban Wall Decals using my husbands slippers!
Love this quote! Love the way the words are random! Love the family photos going up the back steps. Click here to see more!

  1. Fantastic! I love the quote, the variety of fonts, and the random layout. It all comes together perfectly, and will make going up the stairs a lot more fun now :-)

  8. Your stairs turned out do well! I just love your blog, I feel like we are blog twins. I am a "at home" blog too. I just love that phrase, it pretty much sums up everything we blog about. I am now following along, have a great week!
